Juan (called Jean during his French service) had a brother, Sebastian Kindelán, and a sister, Maria de la Concepcion Kindelán O´Regan.
When in 1946 the so-called 'Lausanne manifesto' was published calling for immediate restoration Franco identified Kindelán as being the ringleader of those who had signed the document and ordered his imprisonment.
Kindelan died on 13 November, 1822, and was buried in the Cimetière du Père Lachaise of Paris, France.
