The Battle of Garni was fought in 1225 near Garni, Armenia, part of the Kingdom of Georgia from 1125–1225.
In 1226 he attacked Georgia and sacked Tbilisi, destroying all the churches and massacring the city's Christian population.
On Bayezid's overthrow at the Battle of Ankara (July 20, 1402), Schiltberger passed into the service of Bayezid's conqueror Timur: he now appears to have followed Timur to Samarkand, and perhaps also to Armenia and Georgia.
