Church of St Thomas of Canterbury, Kingswear

The Church of St Thomas of Canterburyis situated in the village of Kingswear in the English county of Devon, it stands in a slightly elevated position at the junction of Higher Street and Church Hill close to the railway station and the Dartmouth Lower Ferry and overlooks the River Dart.

Dartmouth and Torbay Railway

The Dartmouth and Torbay Railway was a broad gauge railway linking the South Devon Railway branch at Torquay with Kingswear in Devon, England.

Kingswear

In recent history, Kingswear and the River Dart were used as filming locations for the movie The French Lieutenant's Woman and the television series The Onedin Line, where Kingswear represented the Old World and Dartmouth the New World, thus giving rise to the comments of the local tour guides that this was the shortest ever crossing of the Atlantic.

In 1636, settlers sailed from here to the mouth of the Piscataqua River in North America to found the town now known as Kittery, Maine.

Royal Dart Yacht Club

The Royal Dart Yacht Club was founded in 1866 located in Kingswear, Devon, England.

Torbay Express

From 2003, Past-Time Rail revived the Torbay Express as a passenger charter steam locomotive service, to run on certain summer Sundays and some Saturdays, from: Bristol Temple Meads via stops at Weston-Super-Mare and Taunton; to Paignton and onwards vis the Dartmouth Steam Railway to Kingswear.
