He was elected to West Berkshire Council in 2003 representing Kintbury ward, having previously served on Kintbury Parish Council.
In 1975, Damian founded St Cassian's Centre, Kintbury, which is still operating today as a widely used and respected Catholic Youth Retreat Centre.
Henry Brinklow was the ninth child of Sibyl (or Isabell) Butler, and her husband, Robert Brinklow, a farmer in Kintbury, Berkshire.
After Saint Birinus converted the people of Berkshire to Christianity in the mid 7th century, minsters soon became established in the county from which priests were sent out into the countryside.
He died 1 October 1589, aged 50, and is commemorated by a memorial window in the church of St. Mary, Kintbury, Berkshire.
