Horticulture Research International

Warwick HRI was formed on 1 April 2004 following the integration of Horticulture Research International’s (HRI) sites at Wellesbourne and Kirton with the University of Warwick.

Kirton is a professor of political science and the director and co-founder of the G8 Research Group, co-director (with Alan Alexandroff and Donald Brean) and founder of the G20 Research Group, and founder and co-director (with James Orbinski) of the Global Health Diplomacy Program, all housed at the Munk School of Global Affairs at University of Trinity College in the University of Toronto.

Joshua Kirton

Joshua Kirton was an English bookseller and publisher, responsible (sometimes with Thomas Warren) for the dissemination of a number of important works in the seventeenth century, including Francis Godwin's The Man in the Moone.

Kirton in Lindsey

Catherine Parr, the sixth wife of Henry VIII lived at Kirton-in-Lindsey after she married her first husband, Sir Edward Burgh.

Historically part of the West Riding of the parts of Lindsey, in the county of Lincolnshire, Kirton became part of Glanford Brigg poor law union in the 19th century and thus ended up in Glanford Brigg Rural District from 1894 and then from 1974 to 1996 the Glanford district of Humberside.
