During the World War I, by the end of 1915 and in the beginning of 1916, it played a major part under the command of Serdar Janko Vukotić as part of the Sandžak army.
He left Belgrade as an infant of 3–4 months joining his father first in Kolašin.

When Kolašin liberated from Turkish rule in 1878, people from the Morača and Rovca presented a part of the forest to King Nikola I Petrović-Njegoš of Montenegro.
It has the advantage of being easily accessible, as town of Kolašin is situated on both main road from Podgorica to Serbia and on Belgrade–Bar railway.
