They soon morphed into their folk "bard rock" style, arranging pieces by Komitas and moving on to their own original material, changing their name to Bambir.

Founded by Jag Barseghyan in the 1970s in Gyumri, Armenia, Bambir was lauded as one of the best rock groups in the Soviet Union, performing original material, traditional Armenian songs, and modern arrangements of Komitas and medieval Armenian music.
gusan Haykazun, who is the director of folk ensemble Haykazunk criticized Sirusho for modifying upon Komitas's song, saying "If one wants to be seen, they can simply perform them as they are."

Originating from a line of musicians, he studied music from 1891 to 1895 at the Gevorgian Academy in Echmiadzin, near Yerevan, with Soghomon Soghomonian (later known as Komitas Vardapet), with whom he became friends and a long-time collaborator.
In autumn 2009, Hasmik performed in concerts in the USA with the Kitka Women's Vocal Ensemble, presenting the music of Komitas, Hayrik Mouradian, and Armenian lullabies, as well as participating in the San Francisco World Music Festival.
The avenue which was opened in 1938, starts with the Mergelyan Institute of Mathematical Machines near Komitas square and ends up with the Lambada bridge junction crossed by the Azatutyan Avenue.
Komitas loved the Kurdish popular art and in 1897 he made a diploma research at Berlin Conservatory on Kurdish music.
