Albanian resistance during World War II

Born in 1908 to a Tosk landowner from Gjirokastër who returned to Albania after working in the United States, Hoxha attended the country's best college-preparatory school, the National Lycée in Korçë.

Korçë Skënder

The Skënder was the currency of Korçë, issued in 1921.

Languages of Albania

French lycées in Korçë and Gjirokastër operated during the communist era, because long-time leader of Communist Albania, Enver Hoxha studied in the University of Montpellier in France and upon his rise to power allowed their activity.


Andrey Damyanov
