He was honored with the title of Chikkaraya by Vijayanagar emperor Sri Krishnadevaraya of the Vijayanagara dynasty.
He was patronised by Krishnadevaraya originally and later moved to the court of Gobburi Narasaraya, nephew of Aliya Rama Raya, after the death of Krishnadevaraya.
In the year 1520 Krishnadevaraya sent Seyed Maraikar, a Muslim in his service to Goa with a large sum of money to buy horses.
He visited the court of Krishnadevaraya, the Vijayanagar emperor, and received royal insignia from him.The principality of Chowta split in 1544,with two separate capitals, one at Ullala, under the renowned Queen Abbakka Chowta, and another at Puttige.Ullal branch seems to have become extinct and Circa 1603, the Chowta moved their capital to Moodabidri.
It was subsequently renovated by the Vijayanagar Princess Varadharajamma wife of King Sri Krishnadevaraya.
But by the early 16th century, the Gajapatis lost great portions of their southern dominion to Vijayanagar and Golconda.
Quli extended his rule by capturing forts at Warangal, Kondapalli, Eluru, and Rajamundry, while Krishnadevaraya was busy fighting the ruler of Odisha.
The formation of the village – Therani, a temple for the personal deity – “ Vaikuntanatha Swamy “ and associated grants of land and material effects, were enunciated in a HukumNama ( royal order ) from the Adil Shahi dynasty – through Shri KrishnaDevaRaya’s royal kingdom and his subordinate KarvetiNagaram Raja.
