From the late 1970s through the 1980s, the station enjoyed large audience appeal on the strength of playing the "classics" (e.g. Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin) as well as championing newer hard rock bands such as Night Ranger, Krokus, Ronnie James Dio, Ozzy Osbourne, and Def Leppard.
Clinton, Jr. developed his singing career under the direction of Arkansas' music impresario Butch Stone (manager, Black Oak Arkansas, Krokus) where he developed his chops singing the warm-ups for the studio audiences for the Designing Women sitcom and playing lounges.
It is the first and only album to feature vocalist Marc Storace of Krokus fame.
