On March 9, 1899, following the Dublin example, four men congregated at the residence of Kuttiyil Mathai, Kumbanad, for the breaking of bread, without a priest.

In response to a divine call for full-time ministry, he pursued Theological studies at Shalom Bible Institute, Kottayam and Hebron Bible College, Kumbanad.

John was born in 1876 (1051 Malayalam Year) at Kumbanad, Kerala to Padinjattedathu Chacko of the Kumbanattu family.

Younger son N.J. Chacko B.A.; B.T worked as the Headmaster of the Noel Memorial High School, Kumbanad.

When the Travancore brethren Assemblies divided into four regions (Kumbanad, Ranni, Adoor, Puthuppally) Mr. John took leadership at Kumbanad.
