Palattu Koman(also known as Koma Kurup)- A pioneer of the Indian martial art form Kalaripayattu.
Kurup appeared as a soloist in the Chess In Concert Company for two nights at the Royal Albert Hall.
The students have earlier also had training under veteran gurus like the late Thekkinkattil Ramunni Nair, Padma Bhushan Kalamandalam Ramankutty Nair, the late Kalamandalam Padmanabhan Nair and Kottakkal Krishnankutty Nair, besides late masters like Kadathanattu Govindan Nambisan, Kalamandalam Neelakantan Nambisan, Kalamandalam Unnikrishna Kurup, Kalamandalam Krishnankutty Poduval, Kalamandalam Chandra Mannadiyar, Tirur Nambissan and Kalamandalam Appukutty Poduval.
Joseph Kurup defended and won the Pensiangan election and was determined to change the rural areas of his constituency with positive development.
Kurup obtained a B.A. from the University of Delhi and then studied for both his M.A. and PhD at the University of Calicut, being awarded the latter in 1976.
