It is the most populated island in Kvinnherad and was until 2008 the most populated island in Norway without a direct connection to land.
Kvinnherad is a popular tourism location, and in addition to its landscape, has several places of interest for tourists; the Kvinnherad church, Bondhusbreen, the shipping mural in Høylandsbygd and Radiohola to mention some.
Born in Kvinnherad, Myklebust took a law degree from the University of Oslo in 1967, before starting work with the Norwegian Welfare Services (1968 to 1971).
