LFG rebuilt it using a similar Klinkerrumf intended for a D.VI biplane fighter and testing was soon resumed.
Apart from its engine it had much in common with the earlier D.VI, D.VII and D.VIII designs.
The D.V and D.VI had attempted to address this problem though not very successfully.
