Chácaras are used in the traditional music of the islands of El Hierro and La Gomera, the latter being very big, bigger than the hands of the player.
After of settlement from Toca villages in 1779, called "El Primer Asentamiento" (First Settlement), a second Canarian group was established in the region (originally "El Segundo Establecimiento") which they named Benchijigua in honor to the village of Benchijigua on the island of La Gomera, place of origin of this second population.

The municipality is 81 km from Guatemala City, situated between the municipalities of Escuintla, Santa Lucía Cotzumalguapa, and La Democracia, linked to Siquinalá by road, which continues to the sea at Sipacate, in the municipality of La Gomera.
Having returned to La Gomera by ferry the boat was repaired and the five remaining crew members: Simon Chalk, Ian Couch, George Oliver, Mike Martin & Ben Thackwray (all GB) decided to try without a replacement.
