The first Massenet Festival took place in November 1990 when the opera Cléopâtre and the oratorio La Vierge were presented.
The Arboretum de Vendresse, also known as the Arboretum du Bois de la Vierge, is an arboretum located in Vendresse, Ardennes, Champagne-Ardenne, France.
Other works are L'hommage à la Vierge, and the Lay de guerre, a lai written after the Battle of Agincourt, a riposte to the Lay de paix of his contemporary Alain Chartier.
His choral music was championed in England by Dr Donald Hunt in the 1970s when he was director of Worcester Cathedral Choir, and Villette's Hymne à la Vierge, which is probably his best-known work, has been performed in the annual Service of Nine Lessons and Carols at King's College, Cambridge.
