Joe started his music career by working as a recording engineer in studios such as NYC's Chung King Studios, Playground studios under Untouchables/LaFace Entertainment, Sound on Sound, and Platinum Island.
In 2004, after the corporate restructuring of the BMG labels, LaFace was reactivated as one quarter of the newly reconstructed Zomba Music Group during the Sony BMG joint venture at the time.
Rosa Parks v. LaFace Records, et al. was a lawsuit filed in March 1999 on Rosa Parks' behalf against American hip-hop duo OutKast and LaFace Records, claiming that the group had illegally used Rosa Parks' name without her permission for the song "Rosa Parks", the most successful radio single of OutKast's 1998 album Aquemini.
Released in 1991, the entire album was produced by "The LaFace Family", consisting of L.A. Reid, Babyface, Kayo, and Darryl Simmons.
