According to a survey put together by the national tourism office of Hungary, Mogyoród ranks third among Hungarian destinations visited by tourists, behind the Danube Bend area and Lake Balaton, but ahead of Budapest.
In the 10th century, the Hungarian Nyék tribe occupied the region around Lake Balaton, mainly in the areas known today as Zala and Somogy counties.
In 1995 Szabadi established, as Artistic Director, a chamber music festival in Keszthely, a resort on Lake Balaton.
