Rowan is the culmination of centuries of manipulation of the Mayfair bloodline, often by means of incest and the addition of other people in possession of 'magical' or psychic abilities, by the spirit Lasher.

Though it may be argued this was merely the extent of her immense telekinetic and psychic abilities, which Lasher had previously exhibited but with little to no successful results, coupled with her extensive knowledge of genetics, science and her medical background.

Singer/songwriter Amy Kuney wrote her song "Chocolate" in honor of Somebody's Mother's Chocolate Sauce because Lasher invested in Kuney's career.
Robert Lasher also describes a clapboard outhouse he and his siblings knew as the "Lilac House", from the surrounding bushes, from his childhood visits in the 1920s.
Outside Galveston, Price designed the Lasher House (1956) in the Memorial section of Houston, Texas which has been renovated and restored by Ray Bailey architects and the Bauer House outside Port Lavaca, Texas (1958).
