2012 Gippsland earthquake

Some minor building damage was reported in the Latrobe Valley close to the epicentre, and in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Called TRUenergy, the company was formed in 1995 from the combination of retail and generation assets purchased from Singapore Power (who in turn purchased them from TXU Corp), and CLP's own Yallourn Power Station, in Victoria's Latrobe Valley.

Lignite

The Latrobe Valley in the state of Victoria, Australia contains estimated reserves of some 65 billion tonnes of brown coal.
