He was first imprisoned in the Munich Police station and then he was transferred to a fort in the city of Laufen very close to the Austrian border.
Following capture he was moved between transit camps until reaching Oflag VII-C, Laufen.
British and American citizens were interned in the castles of Laufen and Tittmoning in Bavaria on the border with Austria.
