The Dreamcast port of Soulcalibur was released in Japan on August 5, 1999; and in North America as a launch title, on September 9, 1999.
It was developed by EA Canada and published by Electronic Arts under their newly launched EA Sports Big brand, and was the first title released under that label, which specializes in extreme sports titles with an unrealistic or arcade feel and was widely regarded by critics as one of the standouts of the PlayStation 2's launch library.
