At the end of the season, the newly formed League Managers Association presented its "Manager of the Year" award for the first time, specifically designed to recognise "the manager who made best use of the resources available to him".
His son John Camkin, a journalist and broadcaster, who lived in Leamington Spa served on the board of Coventry City and was secretary of the League Managers Association.
The LMA added their name to a series of football management simulation games, LMA Manager series, for the PlayStation 2, and for 2007 the PC.
