He received scholarships to study in Europe, including at the International Piano Foundation at Lake Como, where he had lessons with Leon Fleisher, Karl Ulrich Schnabel and Murray Perahia.
Among Schnabel's many piano pupils were Gavin Williamson, Victor Babin, Clifford Curzon, Rudolf Firkušný, Adrian Aeschbacher, Lili Kraus, Leon Fleisher, Stefan Bardas, Carlo Zecchi, Claude Frank, Leonard Shure, Alan Bush, Vitya Vronsky, Nancy Weir, Konrad Wolff, Jascha Spivakovsky, Eunice Norton, Henry Jolles, Maria Curcio, Noel Mewton-Wood and radio personality Karl Haas.
Chosei Komatsu has collaborated with numerous international solo artists, such as violinists Joshua Bell, James Ehnes, Hilary Hahn, Cho-Liang Lin, Midori Goto, Gil Shaham; cellist Jian Wang; and pianists Leon Fleisher, Lang Lang, Roger Wright, Jeffrey Kahane, Ikuyo Kamiya, Yu Kosuge, and Michie Koyama.
Meeting Ferenc Rados, Murray Perahia, Leon Fleisher, Arie Vardi, Alexander Lonquich, Ida Levin, Christoph Richter, Ksenija Jankovic, Irena Grafenauer and Sergio Azzolini, was very important for her.
They have studied with the Alban Berg Quartet, the Artemis Quartet and the Melos Quartet and run masterclasses and collaborations with György Kurtág, Walter Levin, Alfred Brendel, Leon Fleisher and Jörg Widmann.
He attended the International Piano Foundation "Theo Lieven" in Cadenabbia, Italy, where he worked with Leon Fleisher, William Grant Naboré, Murray Perahia, Karl Ulrich Schnabel, Fou Ts'ong, and Rosalyn Tureck.
On the recommendation of the pianist Leon Fleisher, she took up a place at the Academy at Cadenabbia, in Italy, where her teachers included Fleisher himself, Fou Ts'ong, Karl Ulrich Schnabel, Murray Perahia and Alexis Weissenberg.
