From 1948 on, he worked at the University of Manchester where he was a colleague of Leon Rosenfeld and worked on the equations of motion of GR, as well as the equations of motion of particles with spin in GR.
After a visit to Cambridge to interact with John von Neumann (1934-5) on the links between classical and quantum mechanics, and a checkered career working with Frits Zernike in Groningen, then Leiden, the Hague, De Bilt, and several addresses in the North of Holland during World War II, he earned his Ph.D. degree in 1946, under the tutelage of Léon Rosenfeld at Utrecht University.
Lubanski worked with Léon Rosenfeld at Utrecht, and dating from this period he wrote a number of papers on the properties of mesons mainly in the journal Physica, one in the Arkiv för matematik, astronomi och fysik.
