The Bulldog goodeid, Alloophorus robustus, is a large goodeid endemic to Mexico where it is found in the Lerma River basin.

Also in 1989 the first Basin Council in Lerma–Chapala was created, incorporating water users from multiple sectors.
It limits to the north with the state of Jalisco separated by the Lerma river, at west with La Piedad, at south with Ecuandureo and to the southeast with Tanhuato.
