1982 demonstrations in Poland

Before 5 pm, another ZOMO platoon came to Lubin (its members were armed with semi-automatic pistols P-83 Wanads), and local police commandant asked offices in Leszno and Zielona Góra to send more reinforcements.

2008 Individual Speedway Polish Championship

First time Individual Polish Championship was won by Adam Skórnicki (Poznań, former Leszno's rider) who beat former permanent Grand Prix riders Jarosław Hampel (Leszno) and Grzegorz Walasek (Zielona Góra).

Antoni Edward Odyniec

In 1831 Odyniec settled in Dresden, in Saxony, where he translated works by Walter Scott, Byron and Thomas Moore, co-edited a "Library of Polish Classics," and wrote for Przyjaciel Ludu (The Friend of the People), published in Leszno.

Jarosław Hampel

He received his speedway license in 1998 with the Polish team Polonia Piła, although he first started racing on a mini-track in Pawłowice, close to the city of Leszno.
