A number of species in the genus Erythronium in the family Liliaceae are sometimes referred to as "dog's-tooth violet".
Like its relative, Brithys crini, this noctuid is found almost exclusively on plants of the Amaryllidaceae and Liliaceae families, and has been recorded feeding on Ornithogalum eckloni and Boophone disticha.
Larvae feed on bulbs of Amaryllidaceae (for instance Narcissus tazetta) and Liliaceae species, while adults feed on flowers of several wild plants, mainly Asteraceae species and are potentially dangerous for vineyards.
Today the garden contains a collection of local plants and other succulents including Agavaceae, Cactaceae, succulent Euphorbia, and Liliaceae.
