1981 Torneo Descentralizado

Melgar won its first national title and become the first club outside of the Lima Region to win the title.

History of the Torneo Descentralizado

The following season Melgar made Descentralizado history by becoming the first and only team outside the Lima Region to win the national championship.

Only three clubs outside the Lima Province have won a national championship, the first being Unión Huaral (2 titles), the second being Melgar (1 title), and the third being Juan Aurich (1) which are also the only clubs to have won a national title outside the Lima Region.
