Slovenia considers them part of their culture and their home town, Lipica (Lipizza in its original Italian), has been in Slovenia since the second world war.
In 1580, Charles founded a stud for horses of Andalusian origin in Lipica, Slovenia, thereby playing a leading role in the creation of the Lipizzan breed.
