Community Memory was created by Efrem Lipkin, Mark Szpakowski, and Lee Felsenstein, acting as The Community Memory Project within the Resource One computer center at Project One in San Francisco.
In 1982, at the age of thirteen, Sung was admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music, where he continued his musical studies with Eleanor Sokoloff, Jorge Bolet and Seymour Lipkin.
As The Listener commented on The Pursuit (14 February 1983): "Lipkin, who studied with Seiber and Blacher, doesn't exactly sound new but he doesn't sound like anyone else either."
She also has been instructed by masters such as Meng-Chieh Liu, Seymour Lipkin, Susan Starr, Yuri Ayrapetyan, Vitali Berzon, Cosmo Buono, Alexander Braginski, Jerome Lowenthal and others.
