Few Serbian soldiers still stood by Szapolyai, mainly the Lipovian Serbs.
The monastery was rebuilt at the beginning of the 18th century, thanks to bishop Sava I Brancovici, who resided in Lipova and later in Ineu (towns in what is now Arad County, Romania).
For a short time, the Serb rebels captured several cities in Banat, including Vršac, Bečkerek, and Lipova, as well as Titel and Bečej in Bačka.
