Ljubo Jurčić is a Bosnian Croat born in the village of Ružići, near Grude, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia.
Barbarez was born to father Ljubo and mother Zlata, in the city of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina (then part of Yugoslavia).

He has two tattoos on his body including a cross on his back with the words which Tsar Lazar said before battle of Kosovo wrapped around it and a dedication to his deceased friend, Ljubo Jovanović who was also a basketball player, with the inscription of his name on a basketball on his left bicep.
Born in Thun, Switzerland to a family of Bosnian Serbs expats (his father hails from a small village called Skugrić near Modriča, Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia), Kuzmanović continued the family tradition as both his father Ljubo and his grandfather played football for the lower league in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the local club in Gradačac – FK Zvijezda where he started his football career.
