When John died in 1786, the estate was inherited by Llewelyn Traherne, the son of his sister (who had married Edmund Traherne), and Coedarhydyglyn became the principal seat of the Traherne family.

The church was restored in 1861-2 "at the expense of Mrs Charlotte Traherne of Coedriglan" under the designs of architect Sir Gilbert Scott and Reverend John Montgomery Traherne, son of Llewelyn.
