He came up through Lobos de la BUAP Youth system,Later was transferred to Puebla FC Reserves.He was recently called to take part in the 2011 Apertura Tournament.

Luis Gabriel Rey debuted in 2000 with Atlético Bucaramanga, where he remained for only a year, where he moved to Mexico, being transferred to second-division clubs such as Lobos BUAP, Zitacuaro, and Acapulco, eventually switching to Atlante FC.
