St. Bernard Parish is a Louisiana Parish (the equivalent of counties in other states) that is adjacent to New Orleans Lower Ninth Ward neighborhood.
This happened in the Lower Ninth Ward when the Industrial Canal breached and also in the Lakeview neighborhood when the 17th Street Canal breached.
Between the end of Holmes on Homes and the start of Holmes Inspection, Mike Holmes starred in a one season series on the construction of a new home in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, to replace one destroyed during Hurricane Katrina.
Among other initiatives, he led a campaign for the Lower Ninth Ward, one of the neighborhoods hardest hit by Katrina, to be rebuilt as housing rather than turned into wetlands.
