In 2007 at only 27 years of age, Lucio discovered that he had a cancer of lymphatic system also known as Hodgkin's lymphoma and had to start a gruelling course of chemotherapy.

Now often called the "Lance Armstrong of BJJ", Lucio hopes to be perceived as an inspiration for other cancer patients.
