Cronberry

Cronberry is a small hamlet situated north-east of Cumnock and one mile north-east of Lugar, in East Ayrshire, Scotland.

Cronberry Eglinton F.C.

The football club took its unusual suffix from the Eglinton Iron Company who developed the villages of Lugar and Cronberry in the 1840s to provide housing for workers at the nearby colliery and ironworks.

Cumnock

There are three neighbouring housing projects which lie just outside the town boundaries, Craigens, Logan and Netherthird, with the former ironworks settlement of Lugar also just outside the town, contributing to a population of around 13,000 in the immediate locale.

Cumnock housed many miners, and also served as the market town for the other, smaller towns in the district, like Auchinleck, Lugar, Muirkirk, New Cumnock and Ochiltree (the original Cumnock/Comenagh/Comno/ etc.)

John Auld

John Auld (born 7 January 1862 in Lugar, Scotland died 1932) was a Scottish footballer who played for Sunderland and Scotland as a central defender.
