Recorded at the National Concert Hall, Dublin in 1983, this was the first album by The Dubliners to feature Seán Cannon, who joined the group when Luke Kelly could no longer perform regularly due to a brain tumour.
Christy Moore and Luke Kelly along with local Blantyre singer/songwriter Drew Semple recorded well-known versions of the traditional song about this disaster.
But it was also their first to feature their first established line-up of Ronnie Drew (vocals/guitar), Barney McKenna (tenor banjo)/mandolin), Luke Kelly (vocals/banjo), Ciaran Bourke (vocals/guitar/tin whistle/harmonica) and John Sheahan (fiddle/tin whistle/mandolin).
Included are portraits of The Dubliners (Ronnie Drew, Luke Kelly, Ciaran Bourke, John Sheahan and Barney McKenna as well as later members Eamonn Campbell and Sean Cannon) that hang to the right of the entrance where the nightly sessions are played.
The Luke Kelly version was also featured in a poignant scene in the 2008 film In Bruges.
