Of Asher, the son of Meshullam ben Jacob in Lunel, Benjamin of Tudela (Travels, ed. Asher, 3b) relates as eye-witness that he was an ascetic ("parush") who did not attend to any worldly business, but studied day and night, kept fasts, and never ate meat.

The floods of 7 September 1933 reduced the bridge from two arches to the one we see today.The site was abandoned when transit patterns changed, the Domitia became less important and the community relocated to Lunel-Viel which better served a north south transit pattern, but the bridge continued in use till the late Middle Ages.

Abba Mari ben Isaac of St Gilles was a prominent French Jewish official who flourished about the middle of the twelfth century, and lived at Saint-Gilles, near Lunel, in Languedoc.
Other responsa sent to Joseph ben Ḥen (Graziano) of Barcelona and Meshullam ben Jacob of Lunel are found in a manuscript belonging to Baron de Günzburg in Saint Petersburg.

Zerachiah ben Isaac Ha-Levi Gerondi (Hebrew: זרחיה הלוי), called the ReZaH, RaZBI or Baal Ha-Maor (author of the book Ha-Maor) was born about 1125 in the town of Girona, Spain – hence the name Gerondi – and died after 1186 in Lunel.
