22 October – The Luxembourg national football team beats Turkey 2-0 in Luxembourg City, recording Luxembourg's first victory in international football since 1969.
On 29 May 2012, the Tardini was set to host its third senior international friendly, pitting the Italians against Luxembourg, but the fixture was abandoned following a fatal 5.8-magnitude earthquake 36 miles east of Parma.

He played his first competitive national team game in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg on 6 September 2013.
Alphonse "Fons" Leweck (born 16 December 1981) is a Luxembourgian footballer, currently playing for Etzella Ettelbruck and the Luxembourg national team.
He plays as striker for the Luxembourg national team and for domestic club side UN Käerjéng 97.
His second and final appearance came on 28 September 1961, in a qualifying game for the 1962 World Cup at Wembley Stadium, in which he scored in a 4–1 win over Luxembourg.
He refereed his first senior international match in October that year, taking charge of Romania's 2–0 win over Luxembourg in UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying Group G.
The club has recently recruited several local sportsmen from other sports, including Stéphane Gillet, former Luxembourg national football team goalkeeper, as a back row.
He made his debut for Ireland in the European Championships qualifier against The Netherlands in Rotterdam on 22 September 1982 and scored his only goal away to Luxembourg in a Euro 88 qualifier.
