In 2007, Powers joined Canadian Cyclocross Champion Lyne Bessette on the Cyclocrossworld.com cyclocross team and continued his improvement.
Bessette was the pilot for Robbi Weldon's gold medal win at the 2012 Summer Paralympics Women's road race B, winning gold.
