He played a small role in the Arnold Wesker one-act play Last Day In Dreamland at the Lyric Hammersmith, and interspersed acting in minor film roles (Never Let Go - 1960), TV parts and commercials with solo record releases on Decca.
He is currently the Resident Assistant Director at the Lyric Hammersmith recently assisting Sean Holmes on the revival of Edward Bond's Saved.
Chris has also played Adonis in the 7 Sonnets of Michelangelo at the Lyric Hammersmith, a Geordie in Lost and Found at the Hackney Empire and taken the lead of John O’Brien in a national tour of Catherine Cookson’s The Fifteen Streets.
The restoration of the musical score for The Beggar's Opera by John Gay and Dr Pepusch (originally produced in 1728) was undertaken by Frederic Austin and completed in 1920 in time for the production by Nigel Playfair, with artistic designs by Claud Lovat Fraser, which opened at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith on 6 June 1920 and ran for a record number of 1,463 performances until 23 December 1923.
As a freelance director she directed Shakespeare's As you like it at the Bristol Old Vic, and a devised adaptation of Hansel and Gretel for the Lyric Hammersmith in London.
