In May 1965, the company won the contract for a new observation helicopter for the U.S. Army, and produced the OH-6 Cayuse (Hughes Model 369).
Developed by McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Systems (through their acquisition of Hughes Helicopters), the name is an acronym derived from the phrase no tail rotor.

On February 12, 2013, while on its way back to Dhaka from the Meghna Group of Industries factory at Sonargaon’s Meghna Ghat, a MD Helicopters MD 600 helicopter developed mechanical problem and crashed in the paddy field at Nawraparha under the upazila’s Kayetparha union.
