Afro Model Awards

The awards ceremony might start to suffer a few criticisms like what MOBO suffered, on the grounds that critics argues that, it is not fair to create an award that favours only Afro Caribbeans.

Lisa Maffia

Maffia has appeared/performed on a number of different television shows including Top of the Pops, Brit Awards, MOBO Awards, The Jonathan Ross Show, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Celebrity Juice, CD:UK, Popworld and appeared in series three of The Games.

Honeyz

The Honeyz performed another newly recorded album track, "Won't Take It Lying Down", at the prestigious MOBO Awards, held on 6 October 1999 in the Royal Albert Hall, where they had picked up two nominations in the 'Best Newcomer' and 'Best R&B Act' categories.

Later on she was also presenting other live TV shows including the very first and subsequent MOBO awards (music of black origin), The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium and a live link from Ghana, West Africa direct to London with then British Prime Minister and U.S. President, Tony Blair and Bill Clinton.

Prodigal Sista

The success of the album was solidified at the 1999 MOBO Awards in London where Knight was named Best R&B Act and Prodigal Sista beat off competition from FanMail (TLC) and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (Lauryn Hill) to be named Best Album.
