On 2 March 2002, a football match was played between Maccabi Haifa (then at the top of the Israeli Premier League) and Maccabi Kiryat Gat (then at the bottom of the same league).
The following month, he earned his first start playing the entire match in Bordeaux's 1–0 victory over Israeli club Maccabi Haifa.
In the middle of the season, Haifa's excellent striker Alon Mizrahi left for French club Nice resulting in a defeat in the CWC quarter final and a slump in the club's league performance.

On 11 July 1987, Ran was killed on the "Guy" beach in Tiberias when he was hit by a passing racing boat whilst Maccabi Haifa were celebrating their championship in the Sea of Galilee.
His former clubs include Maccabi Haifa, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Belgian side Racing Genk, with whom he won four trophies during a successful six-year spell.
Boccoli joined Israel's Maccabi Haifa after his former team, Maccabi Ahi Nazareth, dropped to the second division in the 2003–2004 season.
In 1963, his nephew, Hassan Boustouni, became the first Arab to play in the top tier of the Israeli Premier League when he debuted with Maccabi Haifa F.C..
