During concerts, Evan's wildly rendered pantomime gestures would conjure visions for audiences of a cross between Harpo Marx and The Hatter from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (sans the hat).

Perper then joined a brief (1984–85) reunion of The Youngbloods, and is known to have played as a substitute drummer for The Rhythm Rockers (Robert Valdez, guitar; Gil Roman, bass and lead vocals) circa 1990, for one gig at the now defunct Pat O'Shea's Mad Hatter on Geary Boulevard in San Francisco.

The video seems to be inspired in parts by Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, as seen by Daisy holding a pig, the long table (reminiscent of the tea party table) and Chipmunk holding a hat similar to the Mad Hatter's.
In addition, the movie industry was responsible for supporting this industry, with headwear produced for films such as Public Enemies,Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (Indiana Jones' hat, for example) and the Mad Hatter's famous hat in Alice in Wonderland.
Prince Charming/David (Josh Dallas) goes to Regina's house to demand answers about the Mad Hatter/Jefferson's (Sebastian Stan) hat and how to get Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and Snow White/Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin) back, but Regina pretends she doesn't know how and says she is more concerned about Henry (Jared S. Gilmore).
