The Battle of Koregaon took place on January 1, 1818 between the army of Baji Rao II of the Maratha Empire, and a small East India Company force consisting mostly of Mahars with British officiers.

On 20 July 1999, just over a month after the elections, Tsinker and Roman Bronfman left the party to establish a new Knesset faction; six days later it was renamed "Mahar" (a Hebrew acronym for Party for Society and Reforms), and in October adopted the name "Democratic Choice".
Initially the junction was situated at Mahar, about 3 kilometres west of Dalby, but a parallel line was built to Dalby within a few years to save on the cost of staffing the junction.

Syed Muhammad Jewan Shah Naqvi is a prominent Islamic saint of Allo Mahar Sharif.He was FOUNDER of Allo mahar sharif and great Grand son of emperor of Kharasan.It has been recorded that the first of the ancestors of Syed Muhammad Channan Shah, who came to the Allo Mahar Sharif, was Syed Muhammad Jewan Shah Naqvi, well known by the pen-name of Shair Sawar Sarkar.
