A short distance from the triveni sangama, there is a famous temple known as Sri Bhagandeshwara temple, where Bhagandeshwara (Ishwara), Subramanya, Mahavishnu and Ganapati idols are installed.
It was released in the first half of 1973 and is the last studio album by the original Mahavishnu Orchestra line-up, before the group dissolved, although Between Nothingness and Eternity, a live album, was recorded and released later that same year.
The name of the village is originated by the word kurma which means tortoise as there is a historical and ancient temple called Kurma Varadaraja Swamy temple, where the God is the tortoise avatar(Kurmavataram) of the Lord Mahavishnu.
