Dieppe was known as Upper Village after the Expulsion and was settled by the Surette, Maillet, and Thibodeau families, while Chartersville was called Leblanc's Village and also included members of the Boudreau's clan.

Benoît de Maillet (Saint-Mihiel, 12 April 1656 – Marseille, 30 January 1738) was a well-travelled French diplomat and natural historian.
The Religious Hospitallers of Saint Joseph, an international order of nuns who ran the nearby hospital, also ran a college for females called Collège Maillet in nearby Saint-Basile.
The local lords of the manor were the Maillet du Boulay family until 1934 when the estate was purchased by Louis Renault who is buried there.
